The VBHC Sled Team uses USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program (CEP) and American Development Model (ADM) as the foundation of our hockey program. Coaches desiring to begin the certification process should work with the organization’s Hockey Director. Mike Fleetwood, Asst Director and Coach, Virginia Beach Hockey Club

Coach Fleetwood grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois but didn’t discover hockey until 2003 while stationed in Norfolk, VA with the Navy.  Coach Fleetwood expanded his knowledge and skill by attending several adult learn-to-play sessions and playing on men’s league teams at every competitive level. His coaching career began in early 2012 with the Virginia Beach Hockey Club mainly teaching learn-to-skate and the Challenge Team Sled team. Recently he runs the successful VBHC D-League adult learn-to-play program and has coached for the Hampton Roads Youth Hockey Association (HRYHA). Coach Fleetwood is a Level 3 USA Hockey certified coach.
Ryan Croley,  Director and Coach Virginia Beach Hockey Club.

Coach Croley is a native of Toledo, Ohio and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1994 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He established the Virginia Beach Hockey Club and the Challenge Team in 2012 after receiving a Sled Hockey Grant from USA Hockey. He is an active player and a Level 2 USA Hockey Coach and has experience with youth, adult and disabled hockey. Coach Croley is also the President of the Iceland Board of Directors.
Shana Garland, Certified Athletic Trainer, VBHC Challenge Team

Shana Garland was born and raised in Winston – Salem, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with her bachelors. While there she completed the athletic training program and is currently a certified athletic trainer for the state of Virginia. Shana then attended the University of Saint Augustine and received her masters in physical therapy in 2003 and later received her doctorate of physical therapy in 2011 from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has completed the certificate program for orthotics and prosthetics at Northwestern University. She enjoys working with athletes and is a volunteer physical therapist for the United States Olympic Committee. Shana enjoys triathlons and open water swimming.

Bill Clement, USA Hockey Head Coach, VBHC Sled Team

Coach Clement is a native of Neptune, NJ and grew up in Staten Island, N.Y where he first started playing hockey. Bill earned his Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Master’s of Science in Instructional Design and Technology from Old Dominion University. Bill has resided in Virginia Beach since 1988 with his wife Gerri and two children Billy and Katie. Bill is a full time IST faculty member at Tidewater Community College and has been involved with the Virginia Beach Sled Team since 2013 and has his Level 1 USA Hockey certification.
